Japanese Tea Garden Field Trip on 03/26/2011

It’s finally time to visit the Tea Garden and see what images we can create. Located at Tea Garden Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the Golden Gate Park, it offers plenty of subjects to compose interesting photos for our viewing. The Drum Bridge, Pagoda or Chain of Ponds always make great images from any point of view. Lets start photographing at 9:00 AM when it opens. Hopefully we can get plenty of shots before the crowds arrive in their tour buses. There is a small entrance fee of $5 for adults and $3 for seniors. Parking may be found at Stow Lake, or in the underground parking garage at the music concourse.
Lets have coffee at the de Young Museum around 11:15 AM. There is no entrance fee for visiting the cafe.
See you there.

Field Trip to Civic Center and Asian Art Museum 1/22/2011

The location offers several photo opportunities both indoors and out in the plaza. City Hall, War Memorial, Veterans Building, Symphony Hall, Public Library (inside and out), Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and of course the Asian Art Museum are buildings to check out. The plaza is also a place of gathering for some people you might want to photograph. Every Saturday a fair is held near the civic center bart station with lots of interesting photographic elements.

Entrance fee to the Asian Art Museum is $12 for adults and $8 for seniors. Unfortunately no tripods, monopods or flash photography are allowed. Photos cannot be taken in special exhibit galleries. This museum is an option in case it rains or cold weather comes our way. However, we could meet in the Asian Art Museum cafe for tea around 11:30 AM. There is no fee to go only to the cafe. I’m taking Muni to get there. If you want to drive, park in the civic center garage.

See you there,
Gary Larsen
