The Photochrome Camera Club of San Francisco was formed to provide an opportunity for members with a wide range of experience and interests to meet regularly to share, acquire, and develop photographic skills in a supportive and friendly environment where they can explore the potential of all aspects of photography. See the post on our Photo Book Project.
Send in your best shots and words of wisdom to Martin Taylor by July 14.
Here’s the format:
For the first review, send ONLY 1024 pixel (longest side) images to this special address: mh.taylor@yahoo.com . DO NOT send full size images—instructions for those final selections will follow later.
Images should be contemporary so that they will be relevant to our target readers. Images should be recognizably ‘San Francisco’ and not overly disguised by Photoshop effects. Images should be taken in San Francisco or of San Francisco (how about documenting the places that offer the best views of the city itself; include views of San Francisco from Marin, Treasure Island, Oakland). A subcommittee of your Photochrome Board will act as editors and designers of the book and may work
with you in that capacity to tweak your entry or to combine it with similar submissions.

Do YOU want to be published? Here’s your chance.

In time for Christmas Photochrome can publish a book containing photos of San Francisco. Some members have seen these books, frequently published by Blurb.com,but other entrepreneurs are in this business as well. Jim Silva* and Stacy Boorn are two who have produced amazingly good looking books using these resources.
The concept? We will create a comparatively small photo book with a little text that might inspire visiting and resident photographers to go out and shoot something of our city. It could also be a stand-alone book for souvenir oriented tourists who visit our City. The book will be self-published, probably by Blurb.com. That means the Club needs little outlay other than time and talent.
That’s where you—our members—come in. You are invited to submit your best pictures of the City and any words of insight you can provide to encourage other photographers to strive to make equally good shots. Continue Reading »

In the age of digital photography many Photochrome members have a website or photoblog. Wouldn’t it be great to have a list of all our member’s sites that you could browse at your leisure? This is what we’re trying to add to this website at http://photochrome.org/links/. If you are a member of Photochrome and you have a site or a Flickr account or the like that you would like to add to the site please send your link to mh.taylor@yahoo.com and I will add it to the list.
