We will begin the evening with Pic Two reformulated from Pic Six so that more attention may be given to the best of Field Trip Images submitted from the last event. Now they will be critiqued.
Then, it’s on to a Club favorite as we try to find the best fit for each of two themes: The Rule of Thirds and Arches. Send in up to two images for each theme.
Save meeting time. Send your digital images by midnight Wednesday to: Photochromeprojectionist@gmail.com
Mark your images:
- Category*-First Name-Last Name-Title. Jpg
*categories are:
- PicSix (up to 6 images taken on Field Trips )
- OP (Open Pictorial) two images
- TN (Theme Night) two images per theme.
Please note: digital images should be re-sized so that the longest side is no more than 1024 pixels. That is how they fit properly on our projection equipment.

It’s a double-header tonight. Jim Silva will present A Spring Tour of Kyoto-Japan’s old Capital City at the height of the Cherry Blossom Season. A city of Temples and Shrines adorned with cherry blossoms; People, pilgrims, food, and landscapes; Vermillion pavilions amidst pink blossoms.
Then Philip Brown will select images from his trip on the Rhine featuring Christmas Markets in the picturesque cities of Heidelberg, Cologne, and Strausburg and elsewhere. Phil also says “maybe castles.”

Let’s arrive at 11:30am but since the lighthouse tunnel gate doesn’t open until 12:30 and we will not participate in the docent lead tour, drive down the road and check out the old Battery Mendell. Continue to the end of the road to shoot sea cliffs and Bird Island. When finished, return to the lighthouse trailhead and proceed down the path to the lighthouse. As you walk down the 0.5 mile trail, you might photograph native plants. Notice the orange algae growing on the rocks at the tunnel entrance. Continue down the trail photographing anything you find appealing. Further on you can get some landscape / seascape photos with the lighthouse in the background. Finally, the expansion bridge, lighthouse and objects inside make nice images. Tripods are OK, but remember you have to carry it 0.5 miles “down” to the lighthouse and back “up” to your car. You might also want to take water and a snack.
Let Gary Larsen know if you have room in your car for other members.

In July Bob Nelson and Jim Elliot visited and offered valuable input. Thank you, gentlemen. All are welcome to attend these meetings where we plan and discuss meetings, activities and general maintenance of Photochrome. It is held in the Gallery Annex / Fireside Room upstairs on the main level of the Church and lasts about an hour and a half.
