Let’s arrive at 11:30am but since the lighthouse tunnel gate doesn’t open until 12:30 and we will not participate in the docent lead tour, drive down the road and check out the old Battery Mendell. Continue to the end of the road to shoot sea cliffs and Bird Island. When finished, return to the lighthouse trailhead and proceed down the path to the lighthouse. As you walk down the 0.5 mile trail, you might photograph native plants. Notice the orange algae growing on the rocks at the tunnel entrance. Continue down the trail photographing anything you find appealing. Further on you can get some landscape / seascape photos with the lighthouse in the background. Finally, the expansion bridge, lighthouse and objects inside make nice images. Tripods are OK, but remember you have to carry it 0.5 miles “down” to the lighthouse and back “up” to your car. You might also want to take water and a snack.

Let Gary Larsen know if you have room in your car for other members.
